“You don’t need a silver fork to eat good food.” –Paul Pruhomme
One of my favorite meals growing up was chicken and dumplings. Both my mother and grandmother made this special dish countless times and it never failed to be filling and comforting food. They both used Bisquick for their dumplings but I’ve discovered a wonderful recipe for when you don’t have Bisquick in the house or if you simple prefer making your dumplings from scratch.
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tbs. vegetable oil
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 tbs. baking powder
- 1 tbs. salt
- Combine flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Add oil and warm water to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth (if you need to you can add a little more water, the dumpling mix should be soft and not dry at all once all the ingredients are combined.)
- Plop those puppies in whatever stew, soup, or chowder your cooking up and enjoy:)
